Re: Jefferson County Sheriff conducts DUI checkpoint
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, May 29, along with added saturation patrols over the Memorial Day weekend.
The checkpoints will begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 and conclude at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 30. These times were selected because 96 percent of all DUI arrests made by Jefferson County agencies take place during these hours.
The checkpoint and saturation patrols are in conjunction with the “Heat is On” DUI enforcement weekend.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is committed to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol-related accidents in Jefferson County. Memorial Day weekend is the kick-off to the summer season, and the Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to drive safely and responsibly. |
