Carlos Delfin Maes, 32, of Denver, was sentenced yesterday to 32 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman he met on a telephone chat line last summer.
Maes, a registered sex offender, met a 36-year-old Arvada woman on Livelinks on the afternoon of July 8, 2009. They talked for a while on the telephone and Maes asked to meet. The woman told him to call back later, which he did. She agreed to meet him at the Village Inn at 45th and Kipling in Wheat Ridge. They met and stood outside the restaurant and talked for a few minutes before Maes physically picked the woman up and forced her into his truck. He drove her to a nearby apartment complex parking lot, dragged her behind some trees and sexually assaulted her.
Maes was on Intensive Supervision Parole at the time he sexually assaulted the woman in Wheat Ridge. He raped a 14-year-old girl in Denver in 2005 and was sentenced to prison.
On March 30, 2010 Maes pled guilty to Second Degree Kidnapping, a class 2 felony, and Attempted Sexual Assault, a class 5 felony. Jefferson County District Judge Stephen Munsinger sentenced Maes to the maximum 32 years in prison.
