Jefferson County Commissioner J. Kevin McCasky has been honored as the Volunteer of the Year by the Economic Development Council of Colorado.
The award is presented each year to a volunteer who has demonstrated a multi-year commitment to the vitality, growth and sustainability of the Colorado economy. The Economic Development Council of Colorado (EDCC) is a state-wide, nonprofit organization dedicated to successful, responsible economic development for Colorado.
The Jefferson Economic Council (JEC) nominated McCasky for the state award for his work to help retain, expand and attract primary employers to Jeffco and the region.
As a two-term county commissioner, he is an advocate for attracting new businesses to relocate to Jefferson County and helping existing businesses thrive. He has been an active supporter of completing the beltway around metropolitan Denver because of its impact on job creation in Jefferson County. He championed the building of the Alameda/C-470 Interchange, which will open up job-creating development in the Rooney Valley; and he strongly supported and approved personal property tax rebates to reward job creation and capital investment in the county.
McCasky has been an enthusiastic member of the JEC executive board and actively participated in efforts to assist the vital aerospace industry in Jefferson County.
The award was announced at the Economic Development Council of Colorado Conference in Montrose.
