Jefferson County Highways & Transportation is constructing approximately 1,200 feet of new sidewalk with four wheelchair-accessible ramps on the north side of Ken Caryl Avenue between Alkire and Simms Streets.
The improvements made will ensure pedestrian safety for the King Soopers shopping area and other adjacent businesses, as well as Ute Meadows Elementary School and Chatfield High School.
Construction is expected to end no later than August 15th, 2006. Traffic restrictions will be in place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will be access to businesses and neighboring residents during construction. In addition to the new sidewalk, a RTD bus stop with handrails and a retaining wall will be added.
