While slash operations at the Rooney Road Recycling Center in Golden have closed as of October 31, 2012, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility remains open. Most common household types of unwanted or unused household chemicals and hazardous waste materials are accepted at the facility. Household chemicals pose serious health hazards if not disposed of properly. Jefferson County residents are encouraged to use the services at Rooney Road Recycling Center located at 151 S. Rooney Road in Golden, CO. Call the Center at 303-316-6262.
The household hazardous waste facility is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You must make an appointment when bringing materials to the hazardous side. Please call the appointment line at 303-316-6262 x 1 (phone lines open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) for questions or to schedule an appointment.
The cost for Jefferson County residents to drop off materials is $20.00 per visit. So gather up those empty paint cans, cleaners, pesticides, electronics and batteries and plan a visit to Rooney Road. Download a list of recyclable materials.

The Recycling Center is organized and supported by The 3RC Foundation, a non-profit entity with the goal of providing programs at a subsidized rate to encourage use of the center.
