The 2006 Property Assessment Study conducted by the Colorado Legislative released last week finds the Jefferson County Assessor's Office is meeting or exceeding all standards set by the State Board of Equalization.
State standards allow a 5 percent variance in the sales ratios for each class of property. The Jeffco Assessor's office exceeded these requirements by posting a 1.3 percent variance for Commercial/Industrial, a 1.4 percent variance for vacant land and a mere 0.7 percent variance for single family.
"With more than 180,000 residential properties in the county, I am very pleased that we achieved a 99.3 percent accuracy rating for the single family group." said Jim Everson, Jefferson County Assessor. "These figures highlight the hard work and dedication of our employees."
In addition to statistical analysis, the auditors focused on various procedures used by the office for Assessment purposes and found that no changes were recommended.
"Each year we work hard to assure we are getting the best possible values and using the most up to date methods available," stated Everson. "Continually upgrading has kept this office among the best in the state, as confirmed by this audit report."
