Re: Cortelyou Sentenced to 18 Months Probation
A former radio personality was sentenced today to 18 months Intensive Supervision Probation (ISP) for having engaged in sexually graphic Internet ?chat? with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl. On April 23, Scott Eller Cortelyou, DOB: 1-5-54, pled guilty to Internet Luring and Attempted Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child, both class five felonies.
The District Attorney?s Child Sex Offender Internet Investigation Unit arrested Cortelyou in January 2007 at his home in Conifer. Investigators found that in August, 2006 Cortelyou had engaged in sexually graphic online conversations in an Internet chat room with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl. The 12-year-old girl was actually an undercover Fort Collins Police detective.
During the sentencing, Cortelyou requested of the court that he be able to use his computer, something he has been prohibited from doing since he was arrested. Judge Jack Berryhill granted probation and authorized Cortelyou to have access to his computer in compliance with a use agreement established by his probation officer. Cortelyou must also register as a sex offender. |
