The Jefferson County Highways & Transportation Division will be installing pedestrian flashers at two crossings along Bergen Parkway in the Evergreen area. The flashers will be located between the Bergen Park Recreation Center and the Evergreen Fire Protection District station.
When pedestrians wish to cross the parkway at the two locations, they will be asked to push a button that will trigger a set of lights to flash above the crossing. Motorists will be able to see the lights from at least 300 feet away, cautioning them to look for pedestrians crossing the road.
Work is scheduled to begin on Mon., Sept. 10, 2007 and will be completed within 60 days. Impacts on traffic should be minimal as the work will occur on the shoulders of the roadway.
