The Jefferson County Division of Highways and Transportation, in association with the Colorado Department of Transportation, is requesting citizen input regarding an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the West Bowles Avenue and South Wadsworth Boulevard intersection. The purpose of the EA is to identify and evaluate a reasonable range of intersection improvement alternatives that meet the project purpose and need (to improve capacity, safety and level of service). The EA screening has identified two short-listed alternatives, plus the no-action alternative. These two alternatives include a grade-separated interchange (Wadsworth Bridge over Bowles with ramps) and at-grade laneage improvements.
The public is invited to attend a meeting to learn about the study and to provide comments. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 16 between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Columbine High School (6201 S. Pierce St.). The meeting will conducted in an open house format (no formal presentation will be made).
Information will be on display describing the purpose and need for the project, the project's history, initial environmental and engineering issues, alternatives currently and previously considered, and screening criteria used to evaluate alternatives. Also, information regarding the two short-listed alternatives will be presented at the open house. Public feedback in this process is very important.
