Construction to Start Soon on Swamp Angel Pond Project at McIntyre Street and 50th Avenue

Construction is scheduled to begin early this month on improvements to Swamp Angel Pond, southwest of McIntyre Street and 50th Avenue in the Coors Technology Center near Golden.

The Swamp Angel Pond project includes increasing the pond’s capacity from 26 acre-feet to 53 acre-feet for storm-water storage, installing 2,000 feet of storm sewer, and raising an 830-foot section of McIntyre Street more than 2 feet. Workers will also enhance about an acre of wetlands with more plant species and plant 150 trees. The existing trail there will not be moved.

Drivers should expect delays and a detour along the west shoulder of McIntyre Street as workers raise the segment of McIntyre Street from 50th Avenue to Table Mountain Parkway. The Jefferson County Transportation and Engineering Division recommends that drivers find alternate routes. Construction is expected to last through the summer.

The Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and Jefferson County are contributing about 55 percent of the $1.7 million budgeted for the project. A grant from the Environmental Protection Agency will pay for the rest.

Companies involved include Olsson Associates, ERO Resources Corporation, The Restoration Group, and Kumar and Associates. The contractor will be Edge Construction, Inc., of Golden.

Please see the project fact sheet for more information.
