Jefferson County, Colorado ? On December 23, 2008 an adult male was found hanging in a cell at the Jefferson County Detention Facility.  A sheriff?s deputy discovered the male during a walk-through check of the housing unit where the inmate was being held.  Sheriff?s deputies immediately began administering CPR, activated usage of an automated external defibrillator (A.E.D.) and called for additional medical assistance.  Eloy Medina, dob 12/04/79, was transported to St. Anthony?s Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:56 a.m. on December 24.  

Medina was brought to the Jefferson County Detention Facility on December 22, 2008 by the U.S. Marshal?s Office on a robbery charge. 

The death is currently under investigation by the Sheriff?s Office; all indications are that the male died of an apparent suicide.  The Jefferson County Coroner?s Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death at the completion of their investigation.
