On Saturday, March 14 the Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office will be conducting a mobile DUI checkpoint. Statistics indicate that a high number of DUI arrests in Jefferson County occur in the general vicinity of the selected locations.
The checkpoints will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 and conclude at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 15. These times were selected because 96 percent of all DUI arrests made by Jefferson County agencies take place during these hours. The checkpoint will be in one location for about three hours before moving to another spot.
The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office is committed to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol-related accidents in Jefferson County.
?We understand this is a very festive holiday; we just hope everyone drives responsibly. Our commitment is to serving the public and helping to make the roadways safer," Sheriff Ted Mink said.
