Jefferson County, Co. – A Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigator was injured today during a confrontation with an auto theft suspect in Englewood.
The investigator, whose name is not yet being released, suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being hit and dragged by a pickup truck at the intersection of Santa Fe and Dartmouth. He is currently in serious condition at Swedish Hospital. The driver of the stolen truck was injured when the investigator fired his duty weapon into the truck.
The investigator, age 52, is a 32-year veteran of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and had recently been assigned to the new Jefferson County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, joining officers from neighboring jurisdictions. He has extensive experience in auto theft investigations.
