Re: Former Grand Junction police officer found dead
Jefferson County, Co. – On October 6, 2009, at 1:35 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Days Inn Hotel located at 15059 W. Colfax Ave. regarding a death investigation.
The body was discovered by housekeeping during routine room service. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Glenn Coyne, a former police officer with the Grand Junction Police Department. Coyne was the sole occupant of the room. He had recently posted bond in Mesa County for 1st degree sexual assault and 1st degree burglary.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Coyne died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is communicating with the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County District Attorney’s Office concerning the death investigation. Additional information concerning Coyne’s employment or the criminal investigation should be obtained from the Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County District Attorney’s Office. |
