Jefferson County, Co. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applicants for the Reserve Deputy Unit, an all-volunteer team of sworn officers. Reserve deputies donate at least 16 hours a month performing law enforcement services and assisting during emergencies. All reserve deputies are required to maintain the same high standards of conduct required of any deputy sheriff. The deadline for applications is March 12, 2010.
Those selected for reserve deputy positions must either be a POST-certified law enforcement officer, or must attend the agency’s POST-sanctioned reserve law enforcement academy beginning in May. The reserve academy involves over 200 hours of training, with classes held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and all day Saturday, for about 20 weeks.
Interested applicants should submit an application online through the JCSO Web site, jeffcosheriff.com, under the “Careers” and “Volunteer Position” tabs. For further information about the reserve program, visit our Web site or contact the Recruiting Unit at 303-271-5332.
