The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the District Attorney's Office, Jefferson County R-1 Schools and the Colorado Attorney General's Office, will kick off the Safe 2 Tell program in unincorporated Jefferson County's schools on Wednesday, April 5.
The Safe 2 Tell program is currently in place in several schools throughout Colorado. Safe 2 Tell is modeled after the student Crime Stoppers program. It allows students, teachers, parents, or anyone else to anonymously call a toll free hotline with information about a crime that has already happened, or one they fear may happen. The program helps students and law enforcement officials work together to prevent school violence, bullying and other issues.
Students (age 13 and up), parents and teachers and community members are invited to learn more about Safe 2 Tell at the kickoff event on Wednesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at Chatfield High School. Guests will view a multimedia presentation called "Inside Out," about how young adults may be influenced in their decision-making. The presentation touches on peer pressure, bullying and teen drinking. It also addresses the difficulties students face in choosing to be true to themselves, versus allowing themselves to be influenced by others.
Wednesday, April 5 @ 7 p.m.
