Re: Judges select best in show for 'Be Kind to Animals' poster
Lillien McNall, a 3rd grader from Swanson Elementary School in Arvada, was named grand prize winner of the 21st annual Be Kind to Animals Week poster contest. The contest was hosted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control section in conjunction with national Be Kind to Animals Week.
Judges from Animal Control, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Table Mountain Animal Center judged hundreds of poster entries on creativity, artistry and message. First, second and third prizes were awarded in each participating classroom, and judges selected Lillien’s poster as “best in show” from among the first place winners.
Lillien’s poster features a jungle scene with a giraffe, elephant, raccoon and snake, with the headline, “Be kind to animals!”
Sheriff Ted Mink will present Lillien with her award on Friday, May 21 at 3 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office semi-annual exemplary awards ceremony at the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Building. In addition to receiving a plaque from the Sheriff’s Office, Lillien will receive passes to the Heritage Square alpine slide courtesy of Kids’ Pages magazine, and a gift basket of pet toys courtesy of The Kong Company.
This is the first time that a 3rd grader has won Best in Show in the contest. You can view Lillien’s poster at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffcosheriff/4622840344/
