Re: Body of missing hiker recovered
On May 22, 2010, the body of a hiker missing for two days was recovered. The hiker, identified as 20-year-old Kevin Roberts of Denver, was discovered in heavy brush near Clear Creek in the area of Mount Zion at about 1:00 p.m.
Roberts went missing while hiking with friends in the late afternoon of May 20. It is believed he died from a fall, and there is not a criminal investigation being conducted.
An intense two-day search, through the partnership of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Alpine Rescue Team, was conducted through the efforts of numerous search and rescue teams. Teams from Summit, Arapahoe, Larimer, Douglas and El Paso counties, as well as the Golden Fire Department Water Rescue Team, Jeffco Open Space Rangers, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Front Range Rescue Dogs and Buckley Air National Guard all contributed to the efforts of locating Roberts. |
