Re: Deputy injured in head-on collision
Jefferson County, Co. – A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured and the driver of a second vehicle was killed as a result of a head-on collision that occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on November 3. The deputy was traveling southbound on Hwy 285 at Eagle Cliff Rd. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic. The 33-year-old female driver of a Subaru Outback was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was eventually extricated from his patrol vehicle and air lifted to St. Anthony’s Central Hospital for treatment.
The deputy has been identified as 41-year-old Markus Liebe, a 5-year employee with the Sheriff’s Office. Liebe is currently in intensive care suffering from multiple fractures. The deputy’s photograph is not being released.
Colorado State Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. |
