The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will close all waterway activity on Clear Creek between mile markers 270 and 271, along U.S. 6 west of Golden, in Clear Creek Canyon. This closure is due to the safety concerns surrounding a large Cottonwood tree that has fallen into and across the river.
Rafting, kayaking, tubing and fishing will be prohibited. Violators may be issued a summons for a class 2 petty offense, punishable by a fine of one hundred dollars.
The closure will stay in place until the Sheriff's Office and other official entities determine the conditions are safe. The closure may last for several months.
Vehicle travel is allowed at this time. Once mitigation operations begin vehicle travel may be restricted.
