Law Enforcement agencies address drunk driving
in central Jefferson County

On Saturday, May 27^th the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office along with the Colorado State Patrol and police departments from Golden, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge will be conducting a mobile DUI Checkpoint in the central Jefferson County area.  Statistics indicate that a high number of DUI arrests in Jefferson County occur in the general vicinity of the selected locations.

The checkpoints will begin at approximately 7 p.m. on May 27 and conclude at 3 a.m. on May 28.  These times were selected because a large percentage of all DUI arrests in Jefferson County take place during these hours.  The checkpoint will be in one location for no more than 3 hours before moving to another spot.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and its law enforcement partners are dedicated to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol-related accidents in Jefferson County. "Our ultimate goal is to eliminate deaths and injuries due to drunk driving.  By working together, law enforcement agencies are committed to serving the Jefferson County communities in making the roadways safer", Sheriff Ted Mink said.

The approximate locations of the checkpoints are:

• 11200 block of West Florida Avenue (Jefferson County)
• South Golden Road at Sunset Drive (Golden)
• 4200 block of Kipling Street (Wheat Ridge)
