Re: Jeffco Sheriff looking for police impersonator

Jefferson County, Co. – On July 25, 2011, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious incident regarding a possible police impersonator. According to the 20-year-old female victim, she was driving in the area of S. Wadsworth Blvd and W. Bowles Ave. A man driving a black and white “patrol style” car with a red and blue light bar pulled in behind her.  As she made a left turn onto W. Bowles Ave the man activated the emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. She pulled her car to the side of the road and the man pulled in behind her. Once the cars were pulled over he exited his car and approached her car.  He ordered her out of the car, and when she refused, he yelled at her to get out of the car again. She told him she was calling her parents, at that time he ran back to his car and drove away at a high rate of speed eastbound on W. Bowles Ave. The car he was driving is an unknown make/model police style sedan, described by the victim as being “black and white, but mostly white”, with an older bubble style red and blue light bar on the roof. The suspect is described as a white male with short brown hair and brown eyes, heavy set with a “belly” and a graying mustache. He was wearing black pants, a black shirt with Police on chest and Sheriff on the left sleeve, and a black baseball hat. A composite sketch of the suspect is below.
