Jefferson County, Co. – On January 13, 2012, Jefferson County deputies arrested Frankie Reynolds, (dob 082771), and his brother, Steven Anthony Reynolds, (dob 101869), for stealing an estimated $96,500 in copper wiring from RTD FasTracks light rail systems under construction. In the commission of the thefts, Reynolds also caused an estimated $250,000 in damages.

In one incident reported on January 2, 2012, the RTD construction area at W. 6^th Ave. Frontage Road South and Arbutus Drive had approximately 7,000 linear feet of two types of copper wire stolen from the light rail overhead. One type of the stolen wire is solid with two grooves and is custom made for the light rail system, and the other is braided copper wire.

A second incident was reported on January 9, 2012, at the light rail construction area at W. 6^th Ave. and I-70. In that case, about 150 linear feet of copper wiring was cut away from the overhead lines that were strung between I-beams. When the cables were cut, the tension was released which caused the I-beams to bend. Additionally, the copper wire cannot be spliced, meaning 2800 linear feet of wire must be replaced. The combination of damage to the I-beams and the replacement of wire are estimated at $250,000.

Frankie Reynolds is being held for suspicion of felony criminal mischief series and felony theft series with a $5,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for January 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

Steven Reynolds is being held for suspicion of theft by receiving with a $25,000 bond. His next court date is January 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
