Jefferson County, Co. – Since January 5, 2012, there have been at least 18 commercial burglaries in the metro area where the suspect’s target is the toilet. The suspect, identified as Donald Allen Citron, (dob 011564), is suspected of entering businesses with a backpack and tools, going to the restrooms and stealing the plumbing from the toilets. He would steal the pipe from the wall to the toilet, the flush valves, and any other brass hardware associated with the toilets.
Citron stole from toilets in a wide range of commercial properties. He walked into office buildings and would go from floor to floor, turning the water off and then steal the plumbing. He would simply put the load in his back pack and then walk out the door. Other than office buildings, he also used the facilities at a Taco Bell, a King Soopers, a theatre, a university, and a hospital. The value of the copper stolen and the damage created to various locations range from approximately $300 to $1,000. The total value of all 18 known cases is at least $6,390.
Jefferson County has 5 cases against Citron, and the other jurisdictions involved are the City of Denver, the City of Englewood, and the City of Lakewood. Citron is potentially facing 18 charges each of second degree burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
