The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and Sheriff Ted Mink will be hosting a ceremonial groundbreaking for a new mountain precinct for the Sheriff's Office on September 14, 2006 at 4 p.m. The groundbreaking will take place at the site of the planned new substation: 6851 Highway 73, in the Marshdale area, between Evergreen and Conifer. The new facility will replace the existing precinct located at 4990 Highway 73 next to the Evergreen Library.
The new mountain precinct will offer many services including police reports, sex offender lists, dog licenses and traffic summons payments. The planned facility will be approximately 12,000 square feet and will house Jefferson County Sheriff's Office patrol staff, investigative staff, administrative staff and victim services staff.
Construction on the new substation is expected to be complete in late 2007. Until that time, services at the existing mountain precinct will continue.
