Re: Jeffco releases photos of serial burglar; Law enforcement seeking assistance

The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office is asking for community assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a series of business burglaries in Denver, Georgetown and unincorporated Jefferson County.

At 1 p.m. on July 30, 2006, a male suspect entered the Diamond Shamrock store in Georgetown and engaged the store clerk in conversation.  When the store clerk became distracted with customers, the suspect walked behind the counter and stole several thousand dollars from an unlocked safe.  The suspect left the store before the employee discovered the burglary. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or light skinned African American male, 45-50 years old, 5?9? tall, 175-185 pounds with receding short dark hair.

At 2:45 a.m. on October 5, 2006, authorities believe that the same suspect entered the Diamond Shamrock store at 13456 W. Bowles Ave.  When the store clerk became distracted with a customer, the suspect entered a back room and stole an employee?s wallet from the desktop.  The employee discovered the burglary some time after the man left.  By the time the victim called to cancel his credit cards several purchases had already been made.

A third burglary occurred later the same day at the Mailboxes Etc. located at 3100 S. Sheridan Blvd.  In this incident, a male suspect entered the business and waited for the sales clerk to become distracted with customers.  The suspect then entered a back room and stole a wallet from the employee?s purse.  The employee confronted the suspect and he left the store.

Investigators believe that these three incidents were perpetrated by the same suspect.  Several photographs of the suspect are being released in an effort to learn his identity.  Anyone with information concerning these burglaries is urged to call the Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office tipline at 303-271-5612.
