Jefferson County Sheriff?s deputies arrested two males in connection with a series of forced-entry residential burglaries that occurred in the Evergreen, Genesee and Lookout Mountain areas.
The suspects were contacted on November 3, 2006 after a deputy observed the driver of a red pickup truck commit a traffic violation in the general area where many of the previous burglaries occurred. When the deputy approached the vehicle he noticed a significant amount of property in the bed of the truck, some of which fit a similar description to items stolen from area burglaries. During closer inspection of the vehicle, deputies discovered personal items within the vehicle that clearly didn?t belong to either occupant. The owners were contacted and verified that the items in question had been stolen during a burglary of their residences, one in Jeffco and the other in Boulder County the previous day. The Boulder County Sheriff?s Office was notified and in turn confirmed that they had experienced a large number of similar burglaries in the Pinebrook Hills subdivision and surrounding mountain areas.
Detectives from Boulder, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties are working closely with Jeffco investigators to determine what involvement the suspects may have to similar burglaries in their jurisdictions. So far, investigators have found evidence to support charges against both suspects for multiple counts of burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Identities of both suspects are being withheld pending photo lineups with victims and witnesses in all jurisdictions. Because this is an on going investigation, authorities are asking anyone who can provide additional information about these burglaries to call Jeffco Investigator Tim Stegink at 303-271-5612, Boulder Detective Ali Thompson at 303-441-3643 or Boulder Detective Brian Zierlein at 303-441-1681.
