On Monday, November 20, 2006, Jefferson County Sheriff Ted Mink will host a recognition ceremony to honor the contributions of law enforcement personnel and support staff who responded to the hostage crisis at Platte Canyon High School in September of this year. Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener, Arvada Police Chief Ron Sloan and Golden Police Chief Bill Kilpatrick will join Sheriff Mink in recognizing the efforts of our responders. In all, more than 100 sheriff?s office employees and volunteers responded to Park County to provide additional resources and support to the operation. The ceremony will acknowledge the efforts of groups including SWAT, Bomb Squad and K-9, investigators, incident commanders, victim advocates, school resource officers and more.
The ceremony is open to the public and will be held at D'Evelyn Junior/Senior High School at 3:30 p.m. on November 20. D'Evelyn Junior/Senior High School is located at 10359 W. Nassau Ave., near the intersection of Kipling & Quincy.
