At approximately 2:30 a.m. on April 27 the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a call about loud noises and glass breaking at Falcon Bluffs Middle School. The school is located at 8449 S. Garrison St. which is near C470 and Kipling Parkway.
When sheriff's deputies arrived a short time later they found a total of 44 glass panes had been broken. 38 double pane windows and 6 glass doors will have to be replaced. At this point it has not been determined if the vandals did any damage to the interior of the school. The computer system and electrical wiring needs to be checked.
Classes were not scheduled for today due to a scheduled day off for students and teachers. All classes will be in session at the regular time on Monday, April 30. The broken windows and doors will be boarded up until the summer vacation in order to minimize any disruption to the classrooms and students.
Preliminary estimated damage to the school is $20,000. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is offering a minimum of a $500 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of suspect(s) responsible for this crime.
Anyone with information should call the Sheriff's Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
