On May 7, 2007, at approximately 7:05 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a resident at 11688 Crescent Park Circle.  The male caller reported that he had just been shot by his wife.  The dispatcher kept the victim on the phone until deputies arrived on scene.  Upon arrival, deputies found the victim conscious and lying on the ground in the backyard.  Deputies checked the home and located an unconscious woman lying on the kitchen floor.   Both adults were transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

It appears that the victim, Stephen Palumbo, dob 121164, and his wife, Tamara Palumbo, dob 013162, were involved in an argument, which at some point became physical.  Mrs. Palumbo allegedly fired a handgun at her husband, hitting him at least once.  Mr. Palumbo reacted by striking and kicking Mrs. Palumbo.  The initial investigation indicates that Mrs. Palumbo sustained her injuries after the victim was shot.        

The couple's two children, an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, were located in an upstairs bedroom.  The two children were unharmed and taken into protective custody.

Upon Mrs. Palumbo's release from the hospital, investigators plan to pursue charges against her for Criminal Attempt First Degree Murder.
