On September 5, 2005 at 12:00 a.m., three male suspects entered the Safeway store located at 7500 S. Pierce St. and concealed themselves inside the business. After closing, the suspects confronted several employees and announced their intention to rob the store. Two of the three males were armed with semi-automatic handguns while the third suspect carried what was described as a cane or crowbar.
The suspects gathered all five employees together and bound their hands together. The employees were then placed in a janitor's closet in the rear of the business. The suspects used a key to get into the safe area, taking several thousand dollars from various safes within the business. The suspects also broke into the pharmacy and stole a large quantity of narcotics. Also missing from the store was the entire stock of Sudafed, Mach3 Razors, and an entire display of new DVD's. Upon their exit, the suspects used a key to disable the alarm system on the rear door and left via the loading dock area.
Anyone with information concerning the robbery is urged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office tipline at (303) 271-5612.
