At 5:18 p.m. on November 1, 2005, during a routine cell check, a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy discovered an unresponsive male laying on his bunk in his assigned cell.  The deputy quickly ascertained that the inmate was not breathing and called for assistance.  Sheriff's deputies and medical staff administered CPR until the ambulance service arrived and took over resuscitation efforts.  The inmate was transported to Saint Anthony's Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The inmate is identified as Anthony Lee Sims, date of birth 080885.  Inmate Sims had been in the custody of the Sheriff's Office since August 28, 2005, for Sexual Assault on a Child in Lakewood. 

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death at the completion of their investigation.
