Sheriff Ted Mink will recognize the contributions of citizens and deputies who exhibited bravery, selflessness and professionalism in critical situations. Some of the awards will go to:
- Citizens who voluntarily fought the Table Mountain Fire as it threatened the ranch and a private farmhouse. Employees and Clients of Table Mountain Ranch jumped into action with whatever they had - shovels, tractors, ranch equipment, etc. Later, LaFarge Construction workers arrived and flooded the area with 18,000 gallons of water. The efforts of both groups saved Table Mountain Ranch and a private home from certain harm.
- Citizens who chased, caught and detained a burglary suspect in their neighborhood. One man came upon a wanted suspect who was in the process of stealing yet again. He chased the man down the street until another citizen caught the suspect. A third citizen helped to detain the suspect until deputies arrived.
- A deputy who rescued a woman and baby from a Jeep that was hanging off an embankment. A deputy happened upon an accident scene and was able to stabilize the teetering vehicle enough to get an infant and passenger out safely, with help from a citizen who will also be recognized.
