Where: Jefferson County Administration and Courts building, Hearing Room 1 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden

Sheriff Ted Mink will recognize the contributions of citizens and deputies who exhibited bravery, selflessness and professionalism in critical situations. Some of the awards will go to:

• Citizens who voluntarily fought the Table Mountain Fire as it threatened the ranch and a private farmhouse.  Employees and Clients of Table Mountain Ranch jumped into action with whatever they had - shovels, tractors, ranch equipment, etc.  Later, LaFarge Construction workers arrived and flooded the area with 18,000 gallons of water. The efforts of both groups saved Table Mountain Ranch and a private home from certain harm.
• Citizens who chased, caught and detained a burglary suspect in their neighborhood.  One man came upon a wanted suspect who was in the process of stealing yet again.  He chased the man down the street until another citizen caught the suspect.  A third citizen helped to detain the suspect until deputies arrived.
• A deputy who rescued a woman and baby from a Jeep that was hanging off an embankment.  A deputy happened upon an accident scene and was able to stabilize the teetering vehicle enough to get an infant and passenger out safely, with help from a citizen who will also be recognized.
