On October 22, 2007, Jefferson County Sheriff?s investigators arrested William Samuel Paxton, dob 5-24-65, a former Music Department instructor and/or color guard coach at Arvada, Alameda, D?Evelyn, Jefferson and Lakewood High Schools.  Investigators recently became aware of allegations of sexual assault involving the suspect and female students from those high schools.  Management staff with R-1 Schools have been briefed about the status of the investigation and have determined Paxton to be ineligible for re-hire with the district until further notice. 

Paxton is being held in the Jefferson County Detention Facility for Sexual Assault, 18-3-402 (4)(a), Sexual Assault, 18-3-402 (1)(e) and Sexual Assault on a Child Position of Trust, 18-3-405.3 (3). 

Paxton has served intermittently as both a volunteer and a contract employee for R-1 Schools for several years.  Investigators believe that additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with additional information to contact the tip line at 303-271-5612.
