Jefferson County, Colorado ? On Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 8 a.m. the Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office received a 911 call reporting the theft of a Cadillac Escalade from the 2100 block of Sawmill Gulch Road in the Genesee subdivision.  Sheriff?s deputies were in the area and it is believed the suspect abandoned the stolen car upon seeing the marked patrol cars.

The suspect went to a nearby house and knocked on the door.  The homeowner, not knowing the suspect, refused to open the door.  A reverse 911 notification was sent to homes within a half mile of that location.  Residents were advised to stay inside and lock their doors. The suspect then went to another house on Springflower Drive and entered the house through an open garage door.  An adult female and male homeowners were assaulted by the suspect.  The female sustained multiple head injuries and the male received minor injuries during a fight with the suspect.  Both victims were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.  The suspect fled the house on foot.

After a description of the suspect was radioed to Sheriff?s patrol deputies, he was seen in a wooded area near Lininger Drive and Shingle Creek Road.  The suspect was apprehended after a lengthy foot pursuit

The suspect?s identity is being withheld at this time pending a photo lineup.  The suspect is being held at the Jefferson County Jail and may face the following charges. 

•  Attempt Murder
• First Degree Burglary
•  Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft
• Felony warrant from Florida for burglary
