Re: Annual Courage Walk honors victims of crime
Jefferson County, Colorado? On Saturday, April 19, victim advocates will host the 15th annual Courage Walk for victims? rights at the Jefferson County Administration and CourtsBuilding. The walk, which coincides with National Crime Victims? Rights Week, is free and open to anyone in the community.The purpose of the walk is to honor the strength and courage of crime victims, and to honor those who lost loved ones to violence.
Victim advocates from the 1st Judicial District will join to host the event.This year?s courage walk will feature the Clothesline Project, a colorful display of T-shirts hand-decorated by crime victims, as a way for them to express their feelings about crime and its aftermath. Sheriff Ted Mink will kick off the event with brief remarks.
The courage walk begins at the Jefferson County Administration and CourtsBuilding in Golden and winds around the county government campus, ending at the CourageGarden south of the building.At the conclusion of the walk, Meghan Saleebey from the Colorado Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice will speak and doves will be released in honor of crime victims.

Donations are encouraged but not required for participation in this event.Donations will be used to maintain the CourageGarden, train victim advocate volunteers and provide for the needs of crime victims.
