Are you a Jefferson County resident, between the ages of 14 and 18, and want a rewarding and challenging summer work opportunity? The work is hard and demanding, but it can be fun and enjoyable, too.
Created in 1975, the nationally acclaimed Trail Stewardship Team (TST) has helped thousands of county youth develop a positive work ethic by introducing them to the rewards and realities of the working community. The TST provides much of the physical labor required to maintain natural surface trails each summer. Each TST worker can expect to cover 200 miles in seven weeks by hiking to and from the job site for trail maintenance.
Applications will be available online from March 2 through March 31, 2015. This page contains specific information for those interested in participating on the Trail Stewardship Team.
Accurately complete the Trail Stewardship Team 2015 Application. Completed and signed applications must be submitted online on or before March 31, 2015.
Applicants who participated in the 2014 drawing and successfully completed the 2014 program will not need to participate in the 2015 random drawing process; however, they must submit an application on or before March 31, 2015. These applicants will automatically be considered to fill a position.
A random drawing process will be held to fill all remaining available positions on April 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Open Space office (700 Jefferson County Pkwy. Suite 100, Golden, CO 80401). After all available positions are filled; alternates will be drawn from the remaining applications to create an alternate list used to fill vacancies in the program as they occur. Attendance is not required at the drawing to be a participant or alternate.
Notification in a letter offering employment will be sent followed with pre-employment information. These materials must be read, accurately completed and brought to the mandatory TST Orientation on June 2, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Auditorium (15200 W. 6th Ave., Golden, CO) before employment may begin. The mandatory orientation is only for selected participants who are new to the Trail Stewardship Team and have never attended an orientation in the past.
