Cities and Recreation Districts
Jefferson County Open Space receives funding from a one-half cent sales tax collected across the county. A portion of the Open Space fund is shared with the cities within the county and determined by the ratio of motor vehicle registrations within the jurisdiction. These attributable shares are provided for open space and recreation purposes.
Recreation Districts do not receive attributable shares, but Open Space does purchase property rights and leases these lands to the districts.
