Pioneer History
Join us for a fun, hands-on field trip designed to enhance your Colorado History / Westward Movement unit in accordance with the Colorado Model Content Standards for History. This educational program will focus on pioneer activities such as packing a Prairie Schooner, making journey cake and reliving an 1876 schoolhouse. Home school groups are welcome.

Grades: 3 – 5
Dates: September through May,
Tuesdays thru Fridays
Time: 10:00 – Noon
Fee: $0.50 per student,
min. 25 students, max. 60 students

Arts of the Tribal Southwest
Join us for a fun, hands-on field trip designed to enhance your Native American unit in accordance with the Colorado Model Content Standards for History. This interactive program will focus on art of the Southwest tribes: pottery, textiles, basketry and jewelry. We will also investigate how these tribes lived and prospered in the harsh desert of the American Southwest. Home school groups are welcome.

Grades: 2 – 4
Dates: September through May, Tuesday thru Friday
Time: 10:00 – Noon
Fee: $0.50 per student

Our Outreach programs are currently under development but include interactive History trunks and presentations by skilled “historical” interpreters.

Beaded Bracelets
Make an attractive gold and white chevron-stitch beaded bracelet as a gift or for braceletyour own holiday wear.   If you can thread a needle, you can make this beautiful bracelet in two hours.  The class fee includes a complete beading kit (seed beads, needle, thread, and a button closure), directions, and personalized instruction from an experienced beading teacher.

Fee: JCHS Member $5 : Non-Member $7

EASY SOAPS: Melt and Pour Soapmaking
Learn how to make soap the easy way! This class showcases the Melt & Pour method of soap-making. Using all-natural ingredients and essential oils, we will make three different soaps to take home and share.  A short presentation on the history soapand methods of soap-making is included. Please join us for some good, clean fun!
