  • Fairgrounds Master Plan

The Fairgrounds were established in the early 1950's and have served Jefferson County and the Denver metro area with a growing and changing slate of events and facilities.

Through the years, the Fairgrounds have been home to many organized sports teams and leagues, quarter-midget racetrack, batting cages, rodeos, weddings and a wide variety of other recreational and agricultural activities.

A new vision was created for Jefferson County during the mid-1990s; the approved master plan stipulated the Fairgrounds reflect the county’s roots, which include a heavy emphasis on equestrian, agricultural and recreational activities.

An eight-year capital improvement plan, driven by the Master Plan, started in 1998. Several new facilities were constructed, many others received a new facelift, new parking lots were built, all utilities and infrastructure was updated and the entire Fairgrounds were architecturally landscaped with trees, shrubs and native grasses.

The Fairgrounds’ central plaza area is the jewel of the landscape design, featuring manicured turf grass and sculptured beds in a park-style setting. The eight-year capital improvement plan ended in 2005, and the Fairgrounds now play host to more than 500 separate events annually, ranging from small, local shows to large, national events.
