Parking Changes at North Table Mountain Park

Since being completed in 2011, the formal trailhead at North Table Mountain Park just north of Golden, CO along Highway 93 has been well used by Park visitors. Originally designed to accommodate designated equestrian parking and passenger vehicles, anticipated horseback use has not met expectations. The overall popularity of the Park has created an urgent need for passenger vehicle parking.

Using cameras and patrol logs, a maximum of three horse trailers parked in the designated equestrian parking on a single occasion. Overflow passenger vehicles would park in the horse trailer lot and on both sides of the entry road, creating a safety hazard for emergency response vehicles as well as resulting in a ticket from Jeffco Open Space rangers.

Over the next few weeks, Jeffco Open Space staff will reorganize the existing equestrian parking lot at North Table Mountain Park to accommodate 2-3 parallel equestrian or oversized/bus vehicle spots and modify the remaining space for passenger vehicle parking.
