Winter Junior Ranger Event at Pine Valley Ranch Park

Jeffco Open Space Rangers perform their duties in all seasons, and on Saturday, Feb. 22 the Junior Rangers will come to their assistance for a day of fun-filled winter adventure.

The Winter Junior Rangers program will be held from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Pine Valley Ranch Park. All ages are welcome, and most of the activities are designed for children ages 6 to 10. The Junior Rangers will learn how animals stay warm in the winter, how to be a good Open Space steward, how to plan ahead and be safe in the outdoors during the colder months, how early settlers harvested ice from Pine Lake and more. Several fun, interactive activities such as ice fishing will be offered depending on the snow and ice conditions.

Come early for complimentary hot dogs and hot chocolate served prior to the event. Rangers, Naturalists, Cultural Historians and Volunteers from Hiwan Homestead Museum, Lookout Mountain Nature Center, and Jeffco Open Space will present the program. Register for this free day of February fun on our EventBrite page.
