    Advisory Committee Agendas and Meetings

    The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners oversees the Jeffco Open Space staff and appoints citizens to the Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC). The OSAC consists of 10 members and two alternates representing various segments of the county. The members are appointed for a three-year term by the Board of County Commissioners and represent various segments of the county. Three members are appointed as city representatives, three are county representatives, three are at-large representatives and one is a representative for the recreation districts.

    OSAC meetings are open to the public and scheduled the first Thursday of each month, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Ponderosa Room of the Jeffco Open Space Administration Building, Suite 100, 700 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80401. See campus map

    Jeffco Open Space staff are committed to providing a unique and successful Open Space Program for all of Jefferson County. 

    Director of Parks and Open Space – Tom Hoby

    Along with overseeing all of Jeffco Parks, Tom Hoby leads Jeffco Open Space staff to provide a life-enriching program for all of Jefferson County. To serve the needs of the community and the program, Mr. Hoby and Open Space managers work closely with the OSAC. He is a 30-year veteran of the parks and recreation field.     Administration & Education Services - Don Klima, Manager

    This section provides administrative, technical and educational services for the JeffcoOpen Space program. In addition, Local Parks and Recreation and Non-Profit Grant programs are administered through this section to fund recreation capital improvements amid 11 cities and 11 recreation districts.

    The section is also responsible for providing nature and history education programs and exhibits to create an awareness and understanding of the natural resources found within Jefferson County. Park Rangers are part of this section. It is also home to the Volunteers Services Program. Contact: dklima@jeffco.us or 303-271-5932

    Park Operations - Stanton La Breche, Manager

    Park Operations maintains and manages Jeffco Open Space resources on over 52,000 acres of land and 227 miles of trails. Park Operations is comprised of Natural Resource Management, Park Services and Trail Services. Contact: slabrech@jeffco.us or 303-271-5980

    Park Planning and Construction - Amy Ito, Manager

    Jeffco Open Space Park Planning and Construction drafts, reviews and adopts the Jeffco Open Space Master Plan once it is approved by the Board of County Commissioners. Input and review by cities, recreation districts, other Jefferson County departments and multiple stakeholders are required to make this a comprehensive document.

    This section reviews proposals for acquisition of Jeffco Open Space lands and trail corridors utilizing overall master plan criteria and once approved, Real Estate staff members negotiate with willing landowners for fair market value or donation. Park Planning and Construction develops conceptual park plans and resource studies, as well as supporting the planning efforts of cities and recreation districts and County Planning and Zoning.     Communications - Thea Rock, Manager

    Communications provides clear, concise and accurate information about the activities of Jeffco Parks and Jeffco Open Space.
