Jefferson County Open Space Parks offer 210 miles of trails, providing a wealth of experiences for outdoor enthusiasts of all types and ability levels. Our trails range from paved paths within an urban setting (Crown Hill Park) to natural surface trails extending into the farthest reaches of more remote and rugged parks.

Consult the Trail Rating Guide View document in PDF format. for levels of intensity and technical terrain on trails across the entire system.

    Trail Conditions

Trail conditions, which can vary from park to park and even within each park, are subject to change rapidly with Colorado's ever-changing weather. In general:

    • North-facing slopes stay muddier and snow-packed longer.
    • South-facing slopes dry out more quickly.

Estimate 10 degrees colder than the Denver metro area for every 1,000-feet elevation gain. Our trail closures hotline, 303-271-5975, provides information on trail closures and openings.
