    John Wolforth
    Planning & Zoning Director, Jefferson County

    John Wolforth is the Director of Planning & Zoning for Jefferson County, Colorado. He has held this position since March of 2007. Prior to becoming Director, he served as the Assistant Planning Director and Planning Administrator. John joined Planning and Zoning as a Planner in May 2000.

    John oversees the overall daily operations of the division’s 42 full time staff which is comprised of Zoning Administration, Permit Review, Code Enforcement, Pre-Development Services, Development Services, Planning Engineering, Addressing, Long Range Planning and Cartographic Services. Combined, these sections of the Planning and Zoning Division respond to and process anywhere between 35,000 to 42,000 (2010) inquiries, zoning complaints, permits and development applications per year.

    A native of south Florida, John attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Political Science in 1991. After spending time working in the financial markets, he went on to earn a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1999.
