The Planning Commission will hold a working session to discuss the Comprehensive Master plan on Wednesday, April 25 following the agenda items, which begin at 6:15. The public is welcome to attend and listen, however, there will not be a formal comment period during the working session.
Update since 2011 hearings
On September 28, 2011 the Planning Commission denied recommended updates to the Jefferson County Comprehensive Master Plan. The Planning Commission wanted to take a more in-depth look at revising this Plan. In November of 2011, Planning & Zoning staff began working with the Planning Commission to get direction on the extent of the changes. Since November, staff has conducted four working sessions with the Planning Commission. Staff’s next working session is April 25. Discussion items include the revised Table of Contents and the Infrastructure & Services chapter. Working sessions with the Planning Commission will result in a first draft of the changes to the 2010 Comprehensive Master Plan. These changes will then be taken to the public and applicable internal and external agencies to elicit comments.
Background
On January 27, 2010, the Jefferson County Planning Commission adopted the Jefferson County Comprehensive Master Plan. This Plan consolidated many general policies from the existing community plans into one document. Gradually, Planning & Zoning is incorporating the existing community plans into the Comprehensive Master Plan.
