How It All Started
It all started on May 6, 1946, when the County Zoning Resolution was first adopted by the County Commissioners. The Land Development Regulation was adopted on July 24, 1978. Over the years, these regulations have been fluid, with County Staff continually drafting revisions to the documents in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Jefferson County.

Below are regulation revisions that are being proposed by staff. In order to incorporate comments from the public into the staff reports presented at the public hearings, it is preferable if comments are submitted at least 3 weeks prior to the scheduled hearings.
Proposed Changes to the Zoning Resolution
The Board of County Commissioners adopted the final resolution for the regulations at the November 22nd hearing. The changes will be effective January 1, 2012.
Section 2 (Changes to allow a review for short-term rentals)
Section 4 (Changes to allow a Special Exception review for short-term rentals by the Board of Adjustment)

*The Board of County Commissioners hearing Tuesday, November 8th. The BCC approved the draft regulation changes of Section 2 and 4 of the Zoning Resolution, and also the definition of “Short Term Rental”.
