Cultural Resource Survey Fact Sheet
The Cultural Resource Survey (Phase II) provided historic information about Jefferson County and evaluated properties more than 50 years old throughout the unincorporated portion of the county.
- The total project cost for the Cultural Resource Survey (Phase II) was $54,600
- $40,000 grant award from the State Historical Fund
- $10,000 county matching funds
- $4,600 grant award from Scientific and Cultural Facilities District
- The survey examined over 4,000 properties more than 50 years old in unincorporated Jefferson County
- Created a computer database of properties and evaluations for each of the properties
- Found over 700 potentially significant properties, worthy of further documentation and investigation
- Encountered a number of property owners curious about or interested in possible historical designation
