    County Manager Ralph Schell Honored

Jeffco County Manager Ralph Schell has dedicated his career to government service, helping the citizens of both Jefferson County and Colorado. Recently Schell was honored for his 40 years of government service with an award from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) presented him with this award at its Dec. 6 hearing.

Schell received his degree in Recreation and Planning from Colorado State University in 1975. After graduating, Ralph was hired by Colorado State Parks, where he worked for more than 20 years. In his time with the state, he worked in park planning, open space and outdoor recreation. He worked his way up through the ranks, becoming the administration director in 1991.

He eventually left the state in 1998 to become the director of the Jeffco’s Community Resources Department, which is now known as our Parks and Open Space Division. In December 2009, Schell was appointed by the BCC to serve as the county manager. He has succeeded not only in the length of time he’s served, but in the professionalism and the level of integrity he’s operated with.

Congratulations to our County Manager Ralph Schell!
