    What do I need to do to get a variance?


    Answer:

    First, determine whether you need a variance by discussing it with us. Variances are generally required for building sites that do not meet the minimum lot size.

    If you do, you would need to make an application for the proposed system variance, including an engineering design, a hardship statement, an affidavit and neighboring property owner information. Deadlines for receipt of variance applications are the first working day of the month, at 9 a.m. for the following month's hearing (e.g., February 1 for the March hearing).

    Hearings are held the third Tuesday of every month in Hearing Room 2 in the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Facility.
